Primary objective
Provide high-quality export supply chain analysis and strategic market access advice and manage market development
activities to service and grow the current and emerging agricultural trade from the Northern Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide evidence-based analysis and advice to identify market opportunities, competitive advantages, and overcome
production and supply chain challenges.
2. Build and sustain positive relationships with local and international stakeholders across government and industry.
3. Provide effective project management including development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of trade and
market development related projects and programs.
4. Identify external initiatives, funding opportunities, and co-operative partnerships to leverage and deliver projects and
programs.
5. Prepare high level written reports, responses and correspondence for Ministerial briefings, Cabinet submissions,
speeches, reports and presentations.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Highly developed written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to build stakeholder
relationships and interact effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
2. Innovative, flexible and self-motivated in order to develop novel approaches and directions to achieve outcomes, while
being responsive to the needs of government, industry and stakeholders.
3. Demonstrated proficiency in research, critical analysis, and development of market intelligence and export opportunities
and the ability to deliver clear and considered advice.
4. Working knowledge of Northern Territory agricultural industries and a sound understanding of the associated supply
chains, key markets, opportunities, and initiatives for growing Northern Territory agricultural exports.
5. Sound working knowledge of contemporary market analysis and economic development models and frameworks.
6. Knowledge of contemporary government programs and initiatives as they relate to agriculture trade and market
development including international trade agreements and protocols, technical export market access requirements and
a sound understanding of export related challenges and sensitivities.
7. Sound knowledge of project management techniques with demonstrated experience in cooperative partnerships for
the development and implementation of new programs, initiatives, schemes or policy.
Desirable
1. Relevant experience in international trade, agriculture, horticulture or related field and a broad understanding of the
public sector framework.
Further information

development.
