We are, seeking to address health issues in the community with the long-term vision of improving health outcomes by establishing a regional Aboriginal community-controlled model of service delivery.

What’s the role?
As a part of a multidisciplinary health team provide a first point of contact for Aboriginal people to ensure quality provisions of health care services are delivered in a culturally safe and effective manner.
- Provide quality primary health care to individuals, families and the community (including outstations as required) within own competency level and endorsed policies & protocols (e.g. CARPA Manual), in order to meet expected health outcomes.
- Participate in the afterhours on-call roster to meet community emergency needs.
- Work with minimal supervision in partnership with other team members, to facilitate the delivery of culturally safe health services.
- Provide a link between Community culture and practices and deliver health service programs.
- Participate in planning, delivery and evaluation of health education and health promotion programs to promote healthy lifestyles.
- Provide or assist in the provision of emergency care within professional capabilities.
- Ensure all documentation, records and electronic health information systems are maintained to ensure continuity and confidentiality of client care.
- Participate in the development, implementation and review of the local Health Centre Service plan.
Is this the right role for you?
- Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Healthcare Practitioner and relevant post graduate qualifications.
- Hold a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability and desire to work within a multidisciplinary team to bring about positive change in health outcomes.
- Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, remote area health, principles of primary healthcare and relevant legislation governing work practice.
- Hold (or eligible for) Police Clearance Certificate and Ochre Card.
- Willingness to participate in an on call 24-hour roster.
You will find Jabiru 255kms east of Darwin. The township is surrounded by Kakadu National Park boasting wetlands, billabongs, and wildlife. You can enjoy your time off exploring the region, fishing in the waterways, cooling off in the swimming pool or taking part in the community’s many sporting activities. The brand-new modern health clinic is scheduled to open in September 2024 which will provide additional infrastructure and further opportunities for service.
