What’s the role?
Mala’la Health Service is seeking an experienced Remote Area Nurse (RAN) to join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team in Maningrida, NT. To be a successful Mental Health Nurse, you will be able to promote and provide comprehensive, culturally appropriate, patient-centred Mental Health Program, and also work collaboratively with other stakeholders in Maningrida.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within the Mental Health Program in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality prevention and treatment
- Provide a culturally safe, competent and comprehensive care
- Develop and maintain a strong referral pathway
- Work with the broader team including external agencies
Is the role right for you? The role will see you working in a remote Aboriginal Community. All applicants must have an understanding of, and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control, self-determination, and the issues faced by Aboriginal people living in remote settings. To apply, please ensure that you have the following:
- Current AHPRA Registration and Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse
- Current Remote Emergency Care Course certificate and/or Advance Life Support certificate
- Current accredited Immunisation certificate (recognised in the NT)
- Remote Pharmacotherapeutic Certificate (or equivalent)
- Manual Driver’s License
- Min 5 years broad nursing experience post registration and 3 years working in a primary health related field in a remote context, with advanced clinical skills and competencies applicable to remote settings (including the ability to triage, work independently and participate in emergency calls and First Response)
What’s it like living in Maningrida?
Maningrida is a remote Aboriginal community in West Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, and boasts a beautiful seaside location steeped in history and culture with traditional landowners being the Kunibidji people. A permanent settlement was established in the late 1940s, originally as a trading post with Aboriginal people in the area. Maningrida is the major service centre for the region with a school, health clinic, multiple food outlets, two supermarkets, service station, arts centre, creche, and a tarmac airport with commercial flights operating daily to Darwin.
