Mechanical Service Bay / Truck Mechanic

The Nathan River mine site is located 50km inland from the Gulf of Carpentaria and approximately 760km from Darwin, we are the proud owner and operator of the Roper Bar Iron Ore Mine. We take pride of our in-house mine, marine and trans-shipment division, we manage a fleet of mine and marine assets dedicated to our operations.

We are seeking the following positions:

Mechanical Service Bay / Truck Mechanic

FIFO Roster Ex Darwin is 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off.

Main Duties of this position:

  • Carry out heavy vehicle repairs and maintenance, major and minor services in accordance with Heavy Vehicle stands and compliance

  • Carry out diagnostic inspections and fault finding

  • Provide breakdown assistance when required

  • Maintain & use equipment as designed.

  • Ensure that work is performed as per job instructions to a high-quality standard and completed in the specified time frames.

  • Assist in the management of a harmonious environment, team building & training of other employees as required.

  • Demonstrate and follow WHS Safety protocol and procedures for mine site.

Desirable for this position:

  • Trade Qualification – Truck Mechanic/Diesel Fitter

  • MC and forklift licence (desirable)

  • Auto Electrician experience/qualifications (desirable)

  • High level knowledge and experience in the repair of road trains and hydraulics’

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to keep up to date with modern practices relevant to fleet servicing and repairs.

  • Well-developed technical, diagnostic and analytical skills relevant to mechanical servicing

  • Basic computer literacy skills, including use of Outlook and Word

  • Good time management and prioritization

  • High attention to detail

  • Have an excellent work ethic.

  • Excellent relationship skills and works well in a team environment.

  • Energetic individual who shows initiative and commitment

  • Committed to always supplying a quality product.

  • Be proactive and safety conscious person who can maintain a clean and safe environment.

  • Ability to undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencing employment.

  • Plus weekly tool allowance
